How does cash for junk cars work in Northwest Indiana?
You send the year, make, model and title status through the form, and Cash for Junk Cars NWI calls back with an offer. Accept it and we book a pickup anywhere in north Lake County, from Hammond to Gary, Merrillville and Hobart. Same-day pickup is often possible. The tow is free, and you're paid at pickup.
Free towing
The tow costs you nothing; the offer stays whole.
Paid at pickup
Money changes hands the moment the car leaves.
Same day, often
We can often pick up the day you say yes.
No title? We can still help
Indiana wants the title or a BMV certificate of authority for every junk car, old or new. We'll tell you which fits.
Four stops from driveway to paid
Send the car
Year, make, model and whether you have the title. Then your name, phone and where the car sits.
Take the call
We call you back with an offer. Asking costs nothing, and you can say no.
Meet the truck
Pick a time that suits you. The tow is free, and same-day pickup is often possible.
Get paid
Sign the title over at the truck. Payment changes hands right there, at pickup.
The full walk-through, with what to have ready, is on how selling works.

Where we buy in Northwest Indiana
Our Indiana area is north Lake County, organised the way the county is: by township. Four of them, from the Illinois line to the east side of Gary. Point at one to see its towns on the map.
Where we don't go in Indiana: Porter County, LaPorte County, and the south Lake County towns such as Crown Point, Schererville, Dyer, St. John, Cedar Lake and Lowell. See all four townships.
Indiana paperwork, briefly
Every guide quotes the Indiana Code section it relies on and links the Indiana BMV's own seller instructions, so you can check each rule yourself.
How to junk a car in Indiana
Title, liens, plates and pickup in order, with the Indiana Code sections and BMV pages behind each step.
Indiana bill of sale
What goes on a bill of sale for a junk car in Indiana, when it matters, and why it doesn't replace the title.
Indiana title transfer
The seller side of an Indiana title transfer: who signs, what to fill in, liens, and what the buyer does after.
Indiana plates after selling
Remove it, keep it or move it to another car, or destroy it: what the Indiana BMV and Indiana Code say about the plate from a sold car.
Questions sellers ask first
- Do you charge for towing?
- Never. The tow is free, and nothing is taken off the offer to pay for it.
- When do I get paid?
- On pickup day, before the truck pulls away: by app transfer (Zelle, Cash App or another digital payment) or in cash, your pick.
- Can you pick up today?
- Often, yes. Same-day pickup is often possible, so send the form as early in the day as you can.
- Do I need the title?
- Not always the original, but you do need paper. Every Indiana junk car sale runs on the title (the BMV reissues a lost one for $15) or a $4 BMV certificate of authority, however old the car is. The model year only sets how strict we have to be: a car 15 or more model years old can be sold without a title once you hold the certificate, and buying a newer one with neither paper is a felony for the buyer. Pick your title answer on the form, mention anything else you have (a bill of sale, a registration, an insurance card), and we'll name the route on the call.
- Which Northwest Indiana towns do you cover?
- Hammond, East Chicago, Whiting, Munster, Highland, Griffith, Gary, Merrillville, Hobart, Lake Station and New Chicago: the North, Calumet, Ross and Hobart townships of Lake County. We don't cover Porter or LaPorte County or south Lake County.
- How much will I get for my car?
- It depends on the car: year, make, model, condition and whether there's a title. We don't publish a price list. Send the details and we'll give you a real offer on the call.
